After experiencing the first fruits of the spiritual life, the 4th Day is the longest day and when the soul experiences his most significant trials. To help the soul through this day and return its gaze to heaven, God places the great lights in the sky. The stars to help govern and guide the soul through times of consolation and desolation. It is a passive day, when we begin experiencing the work of surrendering our own will to the Will of the Father. So that it is long, because this is when great work is done: The soul learns to trust the leading of God’s governance and grows in faith.
