The Mystery of Faith is one of the places that significantly changed from the Traditional Latin Mass. In the TLM, the words of the Mystery were part of the words of Consecration, but in the Novus Ordo, it has been given to the people to say. Knowing this history, helps us to understand how significant of a statement it is. It is truly a statement of the Mystery of our faith: How is it that eating the body and blood of Christ actually wipes away our sins; How is it that God loves us so much that He would give us His Son; Belief in the resurrection is itself a great Mystery and all of these things are essential to the Faith.
