Week 2: The Ladder of Divine Ascent

St. Paul wrote to the Romans that there are many gifts but the same Spirit; there are many parts of the body, but all are part of the one Body of Christ.  In a similar way, we can say: there are many descriptions of the spiritual life, but it is the same perfection in Christ that we pursue.  Whether it is through the image of the Interior Castle, Conformity to God’s Will, the Ladder of Divine Ascent or any of the many ways that Doctors of the Church and Saints have described advancement through the spiritual life, they ultimately describe the same Union with God and principles of advancing in the spiritual life.  Through these many ways, God expresses His great love and desire to come to us and present Himself in a way that captures our own heart and is more suited for each of us to understand and follow.  In this series, Fr. Kendall will present a variety of these different images as a way of providing an introduction to the Spiritual Life
